53. Eiffel Tower

The French engineer Alexandre Gustave Eiffel (1832-1923), the most famous steel construction architect of his time, built the Eiffel Tower out of Siemens Martin steel for the world exposition in Paris in 1889. It is the most famous construction in Paris and was the highest tower in the world until 1930, when it was surpassed by he Empire State Building. It is 300 metres high and weighs 9000 tons.
