82. Dome of the Rock, Jerusalem

The golden dome is the symbol of Christianity, Judaism and Islam in the city of Jerusalem. The prophet Mohammed was supposed to have gone to heaven from the Temple of Salomos, and his horse left tracks in the stone. It was here that the Dome of the Rock was constructed between 669 and 692 by Kalif Abd al- Malik.
It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site, along with other buildings in the old city, since 1981.
